Tuesday Intro: The Girl With No Past

imageThis week, I’m linking up again with Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea who hosts a post every Tuesday for people to share the first chapter / paragraph of the book they are reading, or thinking of reading soon. In really enjoy these tasters when I read them on other blogs so wanted to join in.

This week, I’ve picked up The Girl With No Past by Kathryn Croft which has sat on my kindle forever.  It’s part of a sort-of master plan to read books that I have had around for a while and feel guilty about not having read – and I’m hoping it will be a bit of a lighter read than some of my recent books.  Here’s what it’s about…

26158341Leah Mills lives a life of a fugitive – kept on the run by one terrible day from her past. It is a lonely life, without a social life or friends until – longing for a connection – she meets Julian. For the first time she dares to believe she can live a normal life.

Then, on the fourteenth anniversary of that day, she receives a card. Someone knows the truth about what happened. Someone who won’t stop until they’ve destroyed the life Leah has created.

But is Leah all she seems? Or does she deserve everything she gets?

Everyone has secrets. But some are deadly.

And here’s how it starts…

“Everything is silent and for a second I think I must be dead.  But then I hear a deafening screech and I don’t know who or where it’s come from, I only know I haven’t made a noise because something I am okay. I want to turn by head to check what’s left of the wreckage, but I can’t move because pain is shooting through my neck, warm blood trickling down my face.”

What do you think – would you keep reading?

  1. Sorry, I haven’t been keeping up lately with this meme, but I was chuckling over this book being ‘lighter’ – especially with the blood trickling. LOL

I think I actually have this one on my Kindle as well. Need to see if I do. Yes, I’d keep reading.

  2. Wow, that’s quite the beginning. I’d keep reading. 🙂 Sounds suspenseful- and I like the idea of not knowing what she’s hiding.

  3. Oh! You’ve got me hooked. Now I want to know what’s happened, why she’s in the state she’s in. This does sound good. I hope you like it! If you do, I’ll read it too. 🙂

    • It is a great opener isn’t interested? I have been turning the pages at quite a pace – I am hoping here is a good twist in the tale.

  4. Sounds compelling!!! I’ve already planned on tackling my Kindle backlog at some point. Maybe after my 20 Books of Summer is up. I think I have books on there that I’ve had since I first downloaded the app 5+ years ago 🙂
