Weekly update: 20th August, 2017

Hi all and happy Sunday.  I hope you are having a good week and a good weekend.  Today, the sun is shining so I am happy – it’s been very up and down this summer and I am starting to panic we won’t be getting the weather we need to BBQ again before winter roles around (sorry to sound so depressing!).

Saying that, I doubt we will get to cook out today as we have too much to do.  My in-laws are visiting next week and my spare bedroom looks like a bomb has hit it and I daren’t even go into my daughter’s bathroom – which they’ll be sharing – so I will be spending the day tidying  Maybe if I get all more chores done there will be a veggie burger and a beer at the end of it?

The week itself has flown by.  I had Monday off so it was a short week – always good – and I’m in countdown to leaving work, which means I am doing a lot of getting sorted to handover to the new me vs. starting anything new.  I thought I might feel a bit strange as I was the first person to have my job so I built it up from a person specification but I feel a mixture of relief, excitement and fear with my new ventures and no regrets.

I also got some blogging done.  Here’s a recap of my posts….

On Monday, I reviewed Emma In The Night by Wendy Walker, which I really enjoyed and thought was clever in that I thought I was reading one story when in fact another was being laid out in front of me.

On Tuesday, I shared my latest read, A Pocketful of Crows by Joanne M. Harris, though I won’t be reviewing it until October-ish.  It was a book I couldn’t resist picking up as I love Harris’ other books and this one sounded like a great read.

On Thursday, I reviewed At Wave’s End by Patricia Perry Donovan, which is not my normal type of read but which I enjoyed anyways as it dealt with issues we all face (though possibly in  more dramatic way here than in my life) – love and family relationships.  Plus it was set by the beach, my favourite place to be so how could I resist?

On Friday, I took place in the book blogger hop, talking about whether I feel disappointed if I go into a person’s home and don’t see books.

Yesterday, I shared the books I’d added to the shelves (yes, all of the above!), which is more than my usual weeks and has made me put myself on a Netgalley ban till the number of review books comes down.
