Welcome

dock-1846008_1920Hi and welcome to One Reader’s Thoughts, a blog about the books I read and what I think about them.

There is no particular rhyme or reason to what I read, or when I read things, it’s all down to the mood I’m in and, sometimes, what is on the shelves at the local library or on sale on Amazon. I do hold my hands up to having a love of crime fiction and anything by Margaret Attwood but there is little I won’t read if I’m honest, or at least try to – romance novels are a hard sell with me.

When I’m done with a book, I’ll share my thoughts, good, bad or indifferent. The books might be new, old, fiction or non-fiction. And that’s my plan in a nutshell. Hopefully, you’ll find amongst them books you fancy reading yourself, or may have read and completely disagree with me on, which is fine. I’d love to hear your thoughts either way.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. so, you just moved to self-hosting, and apparently you had problems for a while. I have been wanting to do it for several years, but still hesitating to jump.
An idea of post for you: would you mind describing your experience, and explain why you did it, how, what are the pros and cons you encountered. I’m curious and would love to hear about the concrete experience of another book blogger

    • It probably is a good idea. My main problem was that it all seemed so simple when I read the FAQs and “how to’s” on WordPress and also on the site host but in practice I don’t think I’m technical enough. Saying that the site host and WordPress were brilliant with helping me. It just took longer than I thought. I still have so much to do to understand if there are benefits, other than the cost (I was a premium wordpress member and hosting myself is about 50% of the cost!).
